Schröter Attorneys is a boutique law firm which was established in 2011. We are situated in George, in the picturesque Garden Route, and work in conjunction with correspondents to conduct legal proceedings in all courts nationwide.

The firm was established by Frances Schröter, a local in the George Community with more than twenty years of experience in the legal profession. 

At Schröter Attorneys, we strive to build long-lasting relationships with both our clients and colleagues, which relationships are based on professionalism, integrity, and an unfailing provision of quality services.

Frances Schröter

Frances Schröter

Founder & Director

Frances established Schröter and Associates Attorneys, as it then was, in 2011 and has been practicing for her own account for 12 years as of 2023.

Frances obtained her Bcom in Law and LLB degrees from the University of Stellenbosch, and thereafter completed an Advanced Diploma in Labour Law from the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU). 

Frances started her professional career as a Candidate Attorney in Beaufort West before ceding her articles to Millers Attorneys in George, where she eventually became a director. Thereafter she worked for SEESA Labour Consultants and the Mossel Bay Municipality as a Legal Advisor, before starting Schröter and Associates Attorneys in 2011. 

Frances has acquired extensive experience and provides specialized legal services in the following areas: Labour and Employment Law, Local Government and Municipal Law, Commercial and Civil Litigation, Family and Divorce Law.

Frances is a family person who loves spending time with her husband and children. She is also deeply rooted within the local community, frequently gives back to the community, and enjoys both hiking and nature.

Marco Van Der Walt

Marco Van Der Walt

Associate Attorney and Conveyancer

Marco completed his BComm (Law) degree at Northwest University in 2017 and completed his LLB degree at the same institution in 2019. He further completed a certificate in International Dispute Resolution in 2021 through an institution based in England, namely Hunt Alternative Dispute Resolution.

He started his professional career as a candidate attorney at Malcolm Lyons and Brivik Attorneys in 2020. Marco was admitted as an attorney in March 2022 and was thereafter retained as an attorney. In July 2022, Marco relocated from Johannesburg to George, and joined the family at Schröter Attorneys. Marco is also admitted to practice as a conveyancer and deals with the firm’s property matters.

Marco has extensive experience in the following legal areas: Labour and Employment Law, Protected Disclosures and Whistleblowing, Civil Litigation, Personal Injury Law, Medical Law, Local Government (Municipal) matters and Correspondent Practice.

Since Marco’s arrival at the firm, he has built on an existing correspondent practice and continually seeks to provide superior legal assistance to colleagues outside of our immediate jurisdiction.

Outside of work, Marco enjoys nature and the ocean, is an avid hiker, runs the occasional half-marathon, enjoys cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

Jason Kiewit

Jason Kiewit

Associate attorney

Jason Kiewit holds an LLB degree from Nelson Mandela University, earned in 2020, and an Advanced Certificate in Business Rescue Practice from UNISA, completed in 2021. Admitted as an attorney in March 2024, he is currently finalizing his LLM in Tax Law with Nelson Mandela University.

Jason specializes in drafting commercial agreements for a diverse range of clients, including developers, business owners, shareholders, trusts, and companies. His practice encompasses commercial matters, civil disputes, trust issues, and tax disputes with SARS. He also provides strategic advice on the sale of businesses and shares, trust distributions, and the tax implications of transactions.

In addition to his focus on commercial and tax law, Jason brings experience in general litigation, family and maintenance law, and construction and building law. His breadth of knowledge reflects a versatile legal practice.

Jason also contributes to the community as an independent non-executive director on the South Western District Cricket NPC Board. He serves on the Audit and Risk Board Committee and chairs the Social and Ethics Board Committee.

Outside of his professional life, Jason enjoys reading, spending quality time with his family, and engaging in community service.
